It’s time for BIG FUN! OCPAC’s 2023 show is ‘HEATHERS: THE MUSICAL’.

OCPAC is beyond thrilled to bring Heathers to life in September 2023.

‘Heathers: The Musical’ is a hilarious, heartfelt, and homicidal review of the high school food chain. Based on the classic 1989 film, Westerberg High is ruled by a shoulder-padded, scrunchie-wearing clique of mean girls: Heather, Heather and Heather - the hottest and cruelest girls in all of Ohio. Misfit Veronica Sawyer rejects their evil regime for a new boyfriend - the dark and sexy stranger J.D., who plans to put the Heathers in their place… six feet under!

Prepare to be swept away by the deliciously dark comedy of the 2019 West End production updated script and score by Laurence O’Keefe, Kevin Murphy and Andy Fickman.

‘Heathers: The Musical’ will be brought to the OCPAC stage by Director Joel Anderson, Musical Director Ashton Turner and Choreographer Dylan Henry, alongside Stage Manager Katy Roose, Intimacy Coordinator Ahila Navaratnam, Costume Designer Joshua Saunders, Lighting Designer Daniel Jow, Set and Scenic Designer Doria Cravet, Production Manager Bryce Dunn and Casting Consultant Benjamin Samuel.

OCPAC is proud to be presenting this production of Heathers using the revised West End script, including new songs You're Welcome, Never Shut Up Again, and I Say No.

‘Heathers: The Musical’ is presented by permission of ORiGiNTM Theatrical: www.origintheatrical.com.au

Heathers – the Musical will play from September 22 to September 29th at the Cripps Centre at Caulfied Grammar, St Kilda East.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF COUNTRY

We would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of Euro Yroke,  the land on which we perform. We pay our respects to the Wurundjeri and Boonwurrung peoples, who are the custodians of the lands. We recognise their deep and ongoing connection to this land and their rich culture. We are grateful for the opportunity to create and share our art on this beautiful and culturally significant land.

Vision

The director’s vision is for this to be a lively version of the show, characterised by a hyper-1980s visual with a story line that oscillates between comedy and dark satire. It will driven by wickedly talented cast – character-forward leads with rock star vocals, and a dance-fuelled heavily featured ensemble. The characters will be complex and portray an exaggerated yet familiar version of high school. This will be an emotional roller coaster!

CONTENT WARNING

Heathers is a dark comedy that deals frankly and sometimes comically with subjects such as sexuality, mental health, murder, and suicide. We acknowledge these subjects may be triggering for some people.
